Privacy policy
We run a reading site, not a tracking site. Here is what we store, why, and for how long.
Controller
The controller (Art. 4(7) GDPR) for personal data processed on hamburgwelle.com is:
- Operator
- [Operator name and legal form]
- Address
- [Street and number, postcode, city, country]
- [email protected] [confirm the address you will actually use]
You can also reach us through the contact page. This policy is written to meet the information duties of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Telecommunications-Digital-Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG).
In short
- Google Ads and Google Analytics tags are loaded only after you click “Accept all” in the cookie banner, and only if the operator has entered an ID. Until then no Google script runs and nothing is sent to Google.
- Two small preferences (your age confirmation and your cookie choice) are kept in your own browser.
- Fonts and photographs are served from our own server, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or Unsplash when a page loads.
- If you use the contact form, we use what you send only to reply to you.
Visiting the site
When you open a page, the web server that delivers hamburgwelle.com receives the technical data your browser sends with every request: your IP address, the page requested, the time, the referring page and your browser type. We need this data to deliver the page and keep the site secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in running a safe website).
The site is hosted by [Hosting provider: name and address], which acts as our processor. Server logs are deleted after [retention period of the hosting provider] and are not combined with any other data.
Browser storage
The site uses the local storage of your browser, not cookies, for two values:
- hw_age_ok
- Set when you confirm that you are 18 or older, so that the age notice does not reappear on every page.
- hw_consent
- Your choice in the cookie banner (“all” or “essential”).
These values are strictly necessary for the function you asked for (§ 25(2) TDDDG) and stay on your device. We cannot read them from our servers. You can delete them at any time in your browser’s site-data settings.
Fonts and photographs
The typefaces and photographs are stored on our own server and delivered from there. Your browser makes no request to Google Fonts or to Unsplash when a page loads.
Every photograph carries a credit that links to the photographer’s Unsplash profile and to the photograph. If you click one of those links you leave our site, and Unsplash’s privacy policy applies from that point. The same goes for links to the casino’s website, the city of Bad Homburg and Wikipedia.
Google Ads and Google Analytics
To measure how visitors find the site and to run advertising on Google, the site can use the Google tag (gtag.js) for Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing and for Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. These tags set cookies and process your shortened IP address, device and browser data, pages viewed and interactions such as sending the contact form.
We use them only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You give or refuse it in the cookie banner and can withdraw it at any time through “Cookie settings” in the footer. Until you accept, the tags are not loaded and no advertising or analytics cookies are set. Google Consent Mode v2 keeps all storage on “denied” by default.
Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. See how Google uses data from partner sites. [Remove this section if you never enable the tags.]
Contact form
The contact form asks for your name, your e-mail address, a subject and your message. We use these only to read and answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Depending on how the site is set up, the form either sends your message to [form service or mail server used] for delivery to us, or opens your e-mail program with the message prepared so that you send it yourself.
We keep your message for as long as we need to deal with it and delete it afterwards unless a legal retention duty applies. We do not pass it to the casino or anyone else unless you ask us to. Please do not send payment details or special-category data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing and to receive it in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, which is the data protection authority of the German federal state where the controller is based. To exercise your rights, write to us through the contact page.
Minors
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, let us know and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this policy if the way the site works changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
